Wild Cambodia - Mondulkiri - Mountain Biking tour in Cambodia

Mountain Biking tour in Cambodia
5 days ex Siem Reap or Phnom Penh - trip code APKJ10
US$720
“Mountain bike in the wild north-eastern corner of Cambodia to beautiful protected forests and remote communities.”

This ride takes us to the remote Cambodian province of Mondulkiri. Mondulkiri is home to the largest remaining dry-forest ecosystem in Asia and is described as the 'Serengeti of Asia'. Within these forests you can find some of the most endangered species in the world. Wild elephants, tigers, leopards, monkeys are just some of the animals that call this forest home.

Grasshopper in conjunction with the World Wildlife Fund have designed this unique mountain biking experience. This is just one of the eco-tourism initiatives being established to help provide a range of incentives and poverty alleviation methods to help prevent poaching and destructive agricultural practices by local people.

This trip is a truly unique experience and will show you a part of South East Asia that you wouldn't have known existed.

The trip can be run as a private on request trip for a minimum of two people, subject to availability. This trip can operate only between November and May. Outside these months, the rains will make the trails un-rideable.

Itinerary
Day 1 | Siem Reap or Phnom Penh to Sen Monorom
This trip can start from Phnom Penh or Siem Reap. Your guide will meet you either at the airport or at your hotel. You will then drive to Sen Monorom, the Mondulkiri provincial capital where we stay for the night.
Days 2-4 | Mountain Biking in the Mondulkiri Forest
We spend three days, riding firstly along dirt roads and then on single track through bamboo and semi-evergreen forests. We stay with members of the Pnong community and also in a ranger outpost. We hopefully see the vultures and deer and possibly some larger animals that we will hear from a distance in the forest. We learn about the World Wildlife Fund's initiatives and we enjoy some great local food.
Day 5 | Return to the city
We emerge from the forest and after returning to Sen Monorom, we take the drive back to Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. Alternatively you may wish to stay another night in Sen Monorom or continue north along the Mekong towards Laos.
