14 days Bangkok to Vientiane - trip code GHLF09
US$2150
Holidays, the family and cycling in Laos. What more could you ask for on your holidays? Pack up the kids and join us for a fun and adventurous holiday in beautiful Laos.
We've taken the original Lao Lao tour and customised it to allow for Mum and Dad to get out and ride and for the kids to join them on the ride. There are also plenty of rest days, lots of swimming, and a day of elephant riding all in our favourite South East Asian destination!
Itinerary
Days 1-2 | Bangkok
Day 1 is arrival day so we will gather in the evening for a group briefing and a delicious Thai feast. The following morning we take to the back streets of Bangkok on a ride to a side of Bangkok few explore.
Day 3 | Chiang Khong
After a short flight to Chiang Rai in the far north of Thailand drive out to our rustic wooden guesthouse that sits on the banks of the Mekong River, looking out onto Laos.
Day 4 | Mekong River
After crossing the border we spend the day cruising down the wonderful Mekong River, overnighting in Pak Beng. This is the perfect relaxing introduction to laid back Laos.
Day 5-7 | Cycling to Luang Prabang
Our first section of riding takes us along one of the quietest sealed roads in Asia, over a mountain pass, and cruising alongside a river on our way to Luang Prabang.
Days 8-10 | Luang Prabang
You won't want to leave this charming town. Our first day is yours to wander the temples, visit the King's Palace or just relax. For one day we'll swap the bike for an elephant and explore the nearby jungle. And on our final day in town we ride to a stunning nearby waterfall for a swim and a chat to the rescued bears.
Day 11-14 | Cycling to Vientiane
We depart Luang Prabang and take three days to cycle to the Lao capital Vientiane. This is challenging terrain so we will use the support vehicle at times to skip over some of the harder sections. Prepare to be surrounded by mountains all around and small villages clinging to their sides. In Vang Vieng we will have a free afternoon to explore the caves or tube on the river. Our final day of riding brings us to Vientiane, probably the quietest city in Asia to celebrate the end of the ride.
Special Price For Kids
All children aged 15 years and under on the start date of the tour will receive 20% off the regular adult price. This only applies to the tour price and not add-ons such as extra accommodation.
