Overview

Strap on your helmet for a multi-active adventure through the heart of Catalonia's stunning Costa Brava region from Barcelona.
We'll roll out to soak in the charm of L'Escala, a town where anchovies reign supreme, and the coastal views will leave you *shell-shocked* (in a good, beachy way). With the Mediterranean breeze as our companion, cycle the backroads leading to postcard-perfect scenes that Salvador Dalí himself couldn't resist painting, passing Greek-Roman ruins, medieval villages and lush, vine-covered landscapes.

But what is a jaunt through the grapes without loosening the cork? A story half told, we'd say! Toast with a glass of vintage vino as you indulge in true Spanish feasts along the way. Think hearty tapas, savory paella and creamy flan — all ready to fuel your adventure and delight your taste buds.

As the day winds down (or wines down, as the case may be), you'll relax in welcoming hotels, each with a pool for a refreshing float and one with a spa for that *extra* relaxation! And with our passionate Tour Leader guiding the way, pinch-me-worthy views, exquisite vino and delectable delicacies from the Costa Brava region, this is Spain done right — from handlebar height!

What’s the riding like?

This tour is Riding Level 2, which means you can expect to cycle an average of 40 km (25 mi) per day — and usually no more than around 60 km (37 mi) — with regular snack stops and photo breaks along the way. Roads are mostly flat, with occasional short climbs.

In the Costa Brava, you’re in for a beautifully varied route through the Empordà region on mostly flat roads with a few gentle climbs, all at a leisurely pace, covering roughly 170 km (106 mi) in total.

Hola — welcome to Spain! Your passionate Tour Leader is excited to meet you and your fellow Grasshoppers in Barcelona. Once everyone’s onboard we'll make our way to Torroella de Montgrí, a quaint town nestled at the foot of the stunning Montgrí Massif, rich in history AND beauty!

We'll take a moment to kick things off with a quick round of, “What’s your name?”, “Where are you from?” and maybe even, “What’s your go-to travel snack?” before getting you set up with your bike; ensuring it's as comfy as your favorite sneakers.

Then... we’re off! Our first ride whisks us through the enchanting landscapes of upper Empordà, where lush vineyards and golden fields dance in the sunlight. As we pedal along winding paths, we’ll arrive at the charming town of L'Escala, a coastal gem celebrated for its rich anchovy fishing heritage and stunning vistas.

Lunchtime is a laid-back affair in L'Escala. You’re free to roam and sample local delights — indulge in a fragrant Fideuà, savor the smoky escalivada (roasted veggies), or enjoy a zesty xató salad drizzled with tangy romesco.

Feeling refreshed, the afternoon brings an exciting treat — a boat trip to the nearby Medes Islands. This protected area is a jewel of the coast, famed for its vibrant marine life and clear waters. So, grab your shades and get ready to glide over some waves!

In the evening, we'll regroup for a welcome dinner at the hotel, setting the stage for an evening of great food, great company and the start of a g-r-e-a-t adventure.

Buckle up for a day in the Empordà region, where the landscapes are a lot less weird than Dali's brushstrokes — but we can't promise you won't question reality just a little (in a good way!)

We’ll weave through medieval villages and cruise along serene backroads before arriving in Girona — a historic gem that's aged like the fine Spanish wine we all love (or will love by the end of this trip!). Here, get exploring! Meander through ancient alleys or join the locals in their daily banter at a sunny plaza café before hopping in our minivan for a transfer back to your hotel.

Lunch today calls for an alfresco feast! What will our Tour Leader have in store for us today? Perhaps crusty artisan bread, zesty goat cheese, or juicy figs and sweet melons will be on the picnic rug. Either way, they’ve got the scoop on the best bites! Sit back and soak up the lively atmosphere of Spain's most illustrious town.

This evening’s activities? Relax in a cozy spot with a novel, float in the pool, or devour some tapas with newfound friends — just watch out, or you might miss that last piece of patatas bravas

After fueling up with fresh fruit, irresistible pastries and robust coffee — we're ready to seize the day! We’ll roll past the hamlet of Sant Martí d’Empúries, where ancient Greek-Roman ruins bring history to life. Then, we’ll cruise into the town of Castelló d’Empúries, with its cobblestone streets and medieval charm that’ll have you feeling like a character from Game of Thrones.

From there, we’ll cycle along a scenic trail beside the serene Muga River, leading us to the village of Peralada, the beating heart of the Empordà wine region.

And what’s a visit to a wine country without, well, wine?

We’ll stop by a local cellar for a tasting — sip on some of the region’s finest, clink glasses with fellow adventurers and toast to all the good times (so far).

Afterwards, hop in our minivan for a quick ride to Figueres. Here, we’ll explore the whimsical world of Salvador Dalí at the Dali Theatre Museum. This isn’t your average museum; it’s art with a twist and a perfect way to wrap up a day full of highlights.

The evening is yours to enjoy — unwind in the spa, then wine and dine under the stars. Who says you can’t have it all?

Enjoyed your breakfast? Vamos! This morning we’ll hop on our bikes and cycle from L’Estartit to Palamós with nothing but scenic backroads, farmlands and villages in between.

Get lost (on purpose) in the cobblestone romance of Peratallada, where ancient stone walls tell tales of knights and legends and Pals, a picturesque gem that feels like stepping into a storybook. As you pedal through narrow streets, let the aromas of fresh-baked bread and local pastries tempt your taste buds — after all, who can resist a little pane on the road?

As the day winds down, we’ll arrive at our next home-away-from-home in the Baix Empordà region — our cozy base for more adventures to come. It’s the perfect spot to kick back, stretch out those legs and soak up the serene vibes. After all, we’ve just cycled through centuries of history!

Today, we’re swapping our trusty bikes for hiking boots and hitting the rugged coastline that defines the Costa Brava — trust us, it’s every bit as stunning as it sounds!

After a quick drive to the iconic San Sebastian lighthouse, perched high on a cliff with jaw-dropping views, we’ll start a guided walk along the wild, untouched coast. This is Costa Brava in all its glory — think hidden bays, secret beaches and nature doing its thing in the best possible way.

As we hike along the shoreline, we’ll stroll past idyllic coastal villages where fishermen haul in the catch of the day. Let’s be honest — nothing says “local flavor” like fresh seafood! We’ll pause to inhale the salty sea breeze and maybe even dip our toes in the water as we make our way toward the hotel — yep, we’re arriving on foot like true explorers.

As the sun begins to set, we’ll come together for one last hurrah: a farewell dinner that’s sure to be packed with great food, good laughs and stories to take back home. Get ready to dig into a spread of local favorites — think sharing plates overflowing with mouthwatering tapas and hearty regional dishes that have been passed down through generations.

Is it the last day already?! We’ll wrap up the adventure with a relaxed coastal ride that’s all about taking in those last golden moments of the Costa Brava.

Today’s route leads us through the fishing port of Palamós, where the crisp ocean air and colorful boats remind you just why you fell in love with the coast in the first place. Our journey ends in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, a delightful seaside town where you can kick back and enjoy some well-deserved beach time.

Treat yourself to succulent prawns, crispy calamari, or churros dusted in sugar and chocolate—*drools*. Dig your toes into the warm sand, take a dip in the Med and savor the last few hours of coastal bliss — because what’s better than a little sun and sea before we say farewell?

Back at the hotel, we’ll bid adiós to our stellar Tour Leader and cycling crew *sniff*. Or maybe it’s hasta luego — until we meet again! Next stop: Barcelona.

The tour may be ending, but the memories? Those are with us for LIFE.
