Local snack making

Starting from our Grasshopper shop, we will head to a local family’s home, just a short ride away from our shop, leaving Nyaung Shwe behind us. Here, we will spend time with the family, listening to their stories, while we learn how to make local snacks. Once we are done making and tasting the snacks we will head back to town, riding picturesque roads through villages, stopping along the way to catch some beautiful shots of the sun setting over rice paddies.

Music and games

After another short ride, we will arrive at an authentic local restaurant for an evening of fun. Accompanied by one of our expert guides, it will be time to indulge in some of Shan people’s favorite pastimes: music and Cane ball. A Local amateur musician will be waiting for you, eager to share his love of music and play Shan melodies. Just like any typical evening, you are free to join in or even share some of your tunes! In between snacks and drinks, your guide will invite you to play some Cane ball, a traditional sport popular in this area.

Our tour will conclude here, but you are welcome to stay on, with your new ‘travel companions’.

For those tired after a day of exploring the lake, it is possible to book a tuk-tuk for this tour, instead of a bicycle. Choose the option ‘Ride by tuk tuk’ for this booking.

From playing cane ball and music to making local snacks, this tour offers its fair share of entertainment while learning about local culture and way of life.

Quality, well maintained GT mountain bikes with hydraulic disc brakes, water bottle and international standard helmet are provided. These are very capable bikes that are a pleasure to ride and able to carry you in comfort throughout the tour.

An experienced English speaking, local leader will host you on this trip who is well-spoken, very knowledgeable, and charming. Our leaders are often cited as being the main highlight of the tour. We use local guides who have a passion for their country and are always well informed on topics ranging from history, cuisine and importantly local customs and cultures. Our leaders will take pride in introducing you to every aspect of their country while keeping your safety and comfort top priorities.

This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 1 traveler. And we limit the group size to only 10 travelers so that you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.
