Tour Itinerary
Start Time: 8:30 am – End Time: 4 pm
Gather at the Grasshopper Shop
Meet at the Grasshopper Adventures Shop near MRT Sam Yot Station at 8:30 am. The bike tour will depart at 9 am sharp. After a quick bike fitting and briefing, we hit the bikes. It takes a few kilometers to reach a bit of greenery, but on the way you'll bike through tiny alleyways with dense housing - more like cycling through people's living rooms for an authentic view of life in the big city.
Out of the city
Once on the outskirts of Bangkok, there are few cars but many locals happy to see foreign visitors cycling in their neighborhood. Lunch is included at a delicious local eatery where you can sample world-famous Thai flavors. There is great variety in the terrain we cover as we jump from communities living along the canals to market gardens to wooded plots to ancient ruined temples all within sight of Bangkok's skyscrapers but far from the city’s chaos. We will stop at a few temples of historic importance: Wat Chaloh and Wat Kaew Fah. We will also pedal through areas with some agriculture - plant nurseries and orchards mostly. While this tour does not quite reach the countryside, there is still a countryside feel in some sections. On the return to Bangkok, we wind our way back through the alleyways and finish at the Grasshopper Shop.
The ride is a total of 37 km and the tour takes approximately 7 hours, usually finishing at around 4 pm but this is variable by group and ability.
You will spend most of the day in the saddle, and while the total cycling distance is not that long, it can get hot. The cycling is moderately technical with sections along narrow raised concrete paths so this tour is suitable for more experienced cyclists. We’ll pedal concrete, dirt bike trails and one or two rough spots, but mostly cycle the backstreets and alleyways. There are some main roads to cross but we do this as a group and Bangkok drivers are very courteous when it comes to crossing the road.
The tropical sun can be quite fierce, so we recommend you use some sunblock or if you prefer a natural option, long sleeves for your arms and Buff headwear for your neck.
Older children and teenagers can do this tour if they are experienced bikers and able to spend the whole day out on a bicycle. We do not recommend this tour for young children.

Backstreets
This tour is all about cycling quiet and sometimes very narrow back streets. Where there are busy roads to cross this is done as a group.
Not Bangkok
This tour takes you well away from the normal image of Bangkok. Still within sight of Bangkok, you will be riding through farmland and a very different pace of life from the city of skyscrapers and shopping malls not far away.
1 to 8
This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 1 traveler. And we limit the group size to only 8 travelers so that you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.
Kids’ Prices
We have a range of kids sized bikes, tag-alongs and child seats so there's no reason to leave the kids at the hotel. And to help families we offer discounts to all children aged 15 years and below: Ages 0 to 4 years - 50% off / Ages 5 to 12 years - 30% off / Ages 13 to 15 years - 10% off
Canal Boat
The most efficient way from downtown to our area is on the Klong Saen Saep Boat. Take the Skytrain to Ratchathewi Station, go out of exit 1, then walk toward Siam Square/MBK along right hand side of the road. As you go over a bridge you will see the canal (klong) beneath you. Go over the bridge and turn right down the steps and walk to the water. This boat stop is called Hua Chang. Take the boat heading to Phan Fa Lilat (just ask for Khao San road) which is the last stop. From there, again ask for Khao San Road. You can walk in 10 minutes or take a tuk tuk. We are 200 meters from the McDonalds at Democracy Monument. The boat service closes at 7pm so it cannot be used to get back to your hotel after the tour.
River Boat
It is possible to get reasonably close to us on the Chao Phraya Express Boat getting off at Pier N13 Phra Athit which is a 15 minute walk or short tuk tuk ride from Phra Athit Pier. The ferry takes about 1 hour from Central Pier at Sapan Taksin. The boat service closes at 7pm so it cannot be used to get back to your hotel after the tour.

GUEST REVIEWS
We did the Bangkok Trails tour with our guide Seen. The tour was amazing. Seen knows his history, the native vegetation, the political and royalty current affairs and specially the trails, alleyways, and roads. The day was a total emersion in the Thai way of life in Bangkok. A true embassador for his country. Super ride.

We did the Bangkok trails tour. It’s a full day tour and it’s totally worth it. You cycle to the suburbs of Bangkok and see places you probably would have never gotten to.
-Christian
We had a memorable day cycling with Seen & Woody. My husband has great bike handling skills, me not so much. Woody was so patient and took excellent care of me. The ride out to the countryside was so fascinating. We visited some beautiful temples. Seen was so knowledgeable about Buddhism. We learned so much that day. The lunch spot was excellent. The guides looked after all the ordering. The full day ride is not a easy casual ride but certainly doable and well worth the effort.
