Tour Itinerary
Start Time: 12:30pm to 1:30pm – End Time: 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Transfer to the jetty in Old Bagan
We will pick you up from your hotel. The time will vary, depending on the season but pickup will always be between 12.30 and 13.30. After pickup, we will go to the jetty for a bike fitting and Safety Briefing. Once the equipment is ready, we mount our bikes and set off!
Quaint Villages
We will leave Bagan and it’s magic spell behind and discover a rural life on the other side of the river. For an afternoon we will cycle into an adventure, where life is going at a slower pace. Life here is dictated by the different seasons, as will our tour. After some pedaling, we quickly find ourselves in small villages set amid the arid landscapes. Life here moves at a slow pace and you are more likely to encounter a cow or pig on the road than another vehicle. Depending on the time of year, we may see ox-carts piled high with chilies and garlic being brought in from the fields or groups of school kids flying kites on their days off. This is true life in the dry zone, a scene rarely experienced by tourists in Bagan.
Landscapes & Sunsets
Step aboard our private boat and with its engines turned off, we will gently float downstream, enjoying beer and snacks. We will pass several different villages and farmlands and visit a betel leaf plantation, a brick making site, and peanut oil production. Relax with a cocktail and tasty snacks and watch the sun cast its last rays upon brilliant Bagan. This is an ideal way to end this magical day of discovery.
Once back onshore, an AC minibus will take you back to your hotels between 18.00 and 19.00.
PLEASE NOTE: you should wear clothing suitable for this activity: quarter length pants, shorts, t-shirts are all advisable (shoulders must be covered at the temples), as are comfortable closed shoes to prevent scratches from briars. Riders uncomfortable in the heat should avoid this tour from March to September when temperatures are at their highest. Long sleeves or a light jacket is recommended for the sunset.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Bagan Trails
Leaving town, we ride on well-made paved roads to get a feel for our bikes. Soon this changes to unsealed backroads and trails. The atmosphere out here on the plain, littered with iconic temples, is peaceful, and there is no better way to experience that than by using Bagan's network of dirt and sand trails, thus avoiding the main tourist crowds.
Nice Ride
Impeccably maintained Merida mountain bikes with a helmet are provided. The bikes have front suspension, a comfortable saddle and an upright riding position. We also have specially equipped tires to minimise the incidence of punctures from the tiny thorns that lie in the sands of the Bagan Plain. We provide a handlebar bag to carry your personal items in and a refillable water bottle is provided.
Your Guide
An experienced English speaking, local leader will host you on this trip who is well spoken, very knowledgeable, and charming. Our leaders are often cited as being the main highlight of the tour. We use local guides who have a passion for their country and are always well informed on topics ranging from history, politics, cuisine and importantly local customs and cultures. Our leaders will take pride in introducing you to every aspect of their country while looking out for your comfort and safety at all times.
Bagan Sites
After lunch, most visitors to Bagan head back to their hotel for a rest, leaving the temples quiet and peaceful. Although it can be hot at this time of day, being on a bike creates a slight breeze enough to take the edge off. Exploring villages and temples with few, if any, tourists around is a special treat, and our small group size ensures a fabulous experience..
Snacking
Delicious snacks and clean water are provided on the tour as well as a choice of cocktails, soft drink or beer, fresh fruit and local appetizers on the boat.
1 to 8
This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 1 traveler. And we limit the group size to just 8 travelers so that you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.
Kids’ Prices
We have a range of kids sized bikes, tag-alongs and child seats so there's no reason to leave the kids at the hotel. And to help families we offer discounts to all children aged 15 years and below: Ages 0 to 4 years - 50% off / Ages 5 to 12 years - 30% off / Ages 13 to 15 years - 10% off

We saw very few other tourists on the route we took so we were able to get some incredible photos throughout the day. The sunset cruise at the end of the day is a magical experience.

It was fun to go through the sandy terrain and visit the ruined monastery that people usually don't go with e-scooters or tuktuk.

Zaw was perfect host and guide and to top it all a private boat with more snacks and drinks for sunset on the river. We couldn’t have asked for more.
