Bike Bagan at Sunrise

Sunrise over the pagodas of Bagan is an unforgettable sight and the perfect way to kick off a day of temple exploration. We will pick you up from your hotel and bring you to a great spot for capturing this unique moment on camera. Afterward, we take you for a typical Burmese breakfast before joining our ‘’Bagan Morning Ride’’.

Hotel Pickup and Sunrise
We'll pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to our favorite sunrise viewpoint on the western side of the Bagan Plain. This spot is in a prime position to appreciate the mystical pagoda spires that appear silhouetted against the rising sun. Behind us, the brilliant white pagoda at the top of Tant Kyi Taung is the first to be illuminated. In front, the smoke from the fires cooking breakfast creates a magical mist that wraps itself around the temple spires. Early-morning birdsong heralds the arrival of the sun’s first rays, breaking from behind the hills of Thuyin Taung.

Bike Ride, Teashop Breakfast and Local Market Village Tour
Our bikes will be waiting at this spot, so once the sun has risen we'll jump on and pedal off looking for some breakfast. Just a short ride away we'll join the locals at a traditional Tea Shop and enjoy some typical Burmese breakfast specialties, including a tasting of the twelve different ways to take Burmese tea! After another quick ride, we'll visit the small but bustling local produce market set up in the narrow village streets for a great inside look at daily Burmese life.

Bagan Morning Ride

By this time, those who have chosen our Morning Ride without taking this sunrise extension will be nearby so we will meet up with them and then continue on the regular route of the Morning Ride. Please note that the Bagan Morning Ride following this is about 20km.

PLEASE NOTE: you should wear clothing suitable for this bike tour: quarter length pants, shorts, t-shirts are all advisable (shoulders must be covered at the temples), as are comfortable closed shoes to prevent scratches from briars. Sunscreen is also a must.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Enjoy an iconic Bagan sunrise view and snap some postcard-worthy photos of the moment from our favorite viewing location, to share with friends and family. Following this, we'll soak up the atmosphere at a local tea shop and at the village market. This is a special and iconic Bagan experience.

Leaving town, we ride on well-made paved roads to get the feel for our bikes. Soon this changes to unsealed back roads and trails. The atmosphere out here on the plain, littered with impressive temples, is peaceful, and there is no better way to experience that than by using Bagan's network of dirt and sand trails, thus avoiding the main tourist crowds.

Impeccably maintained Merida mountain bikes with a helmet are provided. The bikes have front suspension, a comfortable saddle and an upright riding position. We also have specially equipped tires to minimize the incidence of punctures from the tiny thorns that lie in the sands of the Bagan Plain. We provide a handlebar bag to carry your personal items in and a refillable water bottle is provided.

An experienced English speaking, local leader will host you on this trip who is well spoken, very knowledgeable, and charming. Our leaders are often cited as being the main highlight of the tour. We use local guides who have a passion for their country and are always well informed on topics ranging from history, politics, cuisine and importantly local customs and cultures. Our leaders will take pride in introducing you to every aspect of their country while looking out for your safety and comfort at all times.

Following a beautiful sunrise and ride, we'll join the locals at a teahouse to taste some authentic Burmese breakfast specialties.

As we always put safety first and don’t want anyone riding in the dark, we’ll have a vehicle pick you up from your accommodation and bring you to the sunrise viewpoint.

This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 1 traveler. And we limit the group size to only 10 travelers so that you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.
