Pickup & Boat
The tour starts with a 7:00-7:30am pickup from your hotel (exact time to be advised when booking). The group assembles at the boat pier, just near Saigon bridge in Binh Thanh District. We then board the comfortable speed boat that takes us up the Saigon River to Cu Chi district. A light breakfast/morning tea is served on the boat and after around an hour on the boat, we set up our bikes and start the ride.
Back Roads Cycling
We ride around 30km through small communities on quiet back roads, trails and paths. Traffic is not something you will need to contend with and the shade of the rubber plantations helps to keep us cool. Along the way, we will see rice paper making and various other village industries as well as people working their fields and tending to livestock. The independence of the bike allows us to stop and chat with locals and to learn a little about their lives.
Lunch & Cu Chi Tunnels
Lunch is had just after midday and once we've had some time to digest, we pedal on just a little further to conclude our ride at the Cu Chi tunnels. We have a guide from the area take us through the tunnels and explain the workings of a tunnel network and what was essentially an underground settlement. The drive back to town in the van takes just over an hour and a half.
We conclude the tour by returning you to your hotel around 4pm.
Cu Chi
Visit one of the Vietnam War's most famous historical sites, the Cu Chi Tunnels. These are just part of an impressive network of tunnels used in war times as bunkers, soldiers quarters, bases and armories. The Cu Chi location has been adapted to make it safe for visitors to take a peek and experience what it must have been like to live in an underground village.
Quiet Roads
While we take you to see the infamous tunnels of Cu Chi, our means of travel is half the fun. We ride the back roads and hidden dirt trails to escape the crowds and bus tourists and to see the real Southern Vietnam.
Nice Wheels
Quality, well maintained GT mountain bikes with hydraulic disc brakes, water bottle and international standard helmet are provided. These are very capable bikes that are a pleasure to ride and able to carry you in comfort throughout the tour.

This is a brilliant trip!
The boat ride is a great way to dust off a few cobwebs, super fast, the river is really smooth, and wonderful hosts providing breakfast and coffee.
On arrival at Cu Chi we met our guide Mr Phat - bikes all set up ready to go. Considering the ride was around 30km, and the temperature 30c+, the ride itself was really enjoyable. It’s flat all the way, and Phat took us through rubber plantations, on tracks past rice paddies, duck farms and families of water buffalo.
He gave us a great running commentary of what life is like for the local community. Great pit stop half way (iced towels, fresh water melon & mango, get some electrolytes in us athletes!!), and then for the Tunnels we ended up at the original site which is now reserved for local tourists.
This is a full day out and well worth it - saw Cu Chi and the tunnels from a totally different perspective.
My second Grasshopper experience (first one at Angkor) and didn’t disappoint!!

Great trip with a great guide. Early morning pick up by Chau took us straight to the boat. We spent about 1.5 hours going up the river. Fantastic scenery. We even had Ban Mi for breakfast. Bike ride was great. Dinh was a great guide, so much info about the countryside and the people. After lunch and 27k of easy interesting riding we reached Cu Chi tunnels. We missed all the crowds, learnt so much and then had even more local delicious food. As the title says, this tour is FANTASTIC.
Thanks again to Grasshopper. You always lay on the best tours whichever country or city we visit.
