Tour Itinerary
Start Time: 7:30 am – End Time: 2 pm
We'll gather this morning at our conveniently located shop, just up a small alley off Hai Ba Trung Street.
In town
Cycling along small and quiet alleyways that are very pleasant to ride, we reach the riverfront of the historic district long before crowds descend on the city. Our guide will help you get your bearings in the center of town and point out the nearby historic sites.
Countryside
Crossing the river, we leave the city behind our wheels on our way to My Son, venturing off onto rural pathways accessible only to bikes and motorbikes. It's not long before we are pedaling through small villages, past family farms and rice fields, greeting friendly workers along our way. This is your best opportunity to glimpse authentic Vietnamese life.
Depending on the season, we may pass rice, corn and even sunflower fields as we explore a very different landscape to that of the city. We'll hardly see any four-wheeled vehicles as we sneak through a network of shortcuts and connections that only locals would know.
The Cham Ruins of My Son lie ahead.
Snack Break & My Son ruins
After replenishing our energy with a healthy snack of fresh fruit and local coffee or tea, it is a short transfer to the entrance to this UNESCO World Heritage site. New regulations require we park our bikes and board electric shuttle vans to the main ruins.
The temples and towers of My Son were built by the Cham people, initially Hindu and later of Muslim faiths. The Cham Kingdom, once dominant in the region, was eventually conquered by the Vietnamese and Khmer. Descendants of the original tribes are now scattered throughout the region, mostly along inland waterways. This incredible site of ancient ruins is an exciting glimpse into Vietnam’s past.
Transfer back to Hoi An
A drive aboard our private van with a midway stop for a simple but delicious lunch of local noodles tops off a fun, informative half day tour.
This ride is mainly on back alleyways, flat tracks and small roads - there are no hills so anyone who can reasonably ride a bike can do this tour. There are a few small sections on dirt trails where beginner riders will have to show some care.

GUEST REVIEWS
On what was a very hot day, our guide, Quan, went above and beyond to ensure that we were safe and comfortable. The bike ride is on flat ground and would be manageable for all but the very unfit. A highlight was a stop at a local market where Quan helped us buy fruit and other foodstuffs that we wanted. The fruit in Vietnam is to die for! After the bike ride we stopped for a needed break at a nice local coffee house. The ride to My Son in an air conditioned van was a welcome respite from the heat. At My Son Quan was a very informative guide but was also aware that it was very hot and we did not really want to linger in unshaded areas. My Son is worth seeing. This is our 3rd trip to Hoi An and we had not visited before because we have visited Angkor Wat a number of times. My Son is much smaller but very different - nestled in a beautiful lush valley. After the visit to My Son, we were taken a short distance to a local restaurant where Quan first of all presented us with wet towels that he had thoughtfully soaked in an ice bucket - the perfect way to cool down. The lunch was a simple noodle soup and rice crackers but delicious. We were pleasantly surprised to be driven all the way back to our guest house at An Bang beach. All up a great, good value experience with exceptional service.

I highly recommend this tour. Our guide was engaging, friendly and very informative. It's a great way to explore the countryside. The views are spectacular, and there are many photo opportunities. I think it's a nice way to tie in something else with a journey to My Son. The distance is just right - you ride half way (about 2-3 hours) and then hop on a car for the second half of the journey to My Son. Water and snacks to keep you energized are provide during the bike journey. One thing however, is that I would only recommend this tour for people who are completely confident on a bike. You do ride on a bike for 10-15 minutes on regular roads alongside Vietnam's infamous traffic ... it can be quite intimdating!

Mike our guide was fantastic. The bikes were already and set up and of very good standard. Mike guided us through Hoi An hectic streets until we were safely out of the city and in idilic country side. The route was mostly of the main roads and down various small streets and paths through various villages..a great way to see Vietnam...apart from being very hot! On the way I left my bag 2km behind at arefreshment stop. Amazingly, a local leant him a scooter to go back and get it...that would not happen in UK. It took sometime because the scooter broke down and another local on another scooter pushed him back to us. It just surprised me how helpful people are in Vietnam and you get the sense here of this all the time. Eventually, got to My Son, very very hot...similar architecture to Ankor Wot, but on a much smaller scale. Throughout the tour we were fully looked after and Mike had good knowledge of My Son. Great time and the best way to see the real Vietnam..on bike but maybe not at 35 degC :)
