Explore Bang Krachao by bicycle, Bangkok's green lung and a cyclist’s paradise with seemingly endless elevated biking paths winding through fertile mangrove forests, small farms, quiet villages and Buddhist temples. Let’s enjoy a relaxing ride in nature and take a break from busy Bangkok city.

Meet at the Bearing Skytrain Station

Behind the Bearing BTS 7 -11 store you will find the Grasshopper Adventures meeting point (use exit 5 from the BTS station if that is how you are arriving at the meeting point). After a quick bike fitting and a little briefing we are off cycling the back roads on the trail to Bang Krachao.

Ferry to Bangkrachao and Cycle along the River Banks

Take a local motorcycle ferry across the busy Chao Phraya River. Then cycle elevated bike paths through local villages and plantations

The Old Betel Nut Garden

Stop for some homemade refreshments in a family garden commanding grand views of the Chao Phraya River and take a moment of two to contemplate the ship and barge traffic on the river.

The Firefly Garden

Before man ever came to Bang Krachao the area was a large mangrove forest which would light up at night with the lights of fireflies. Today members of the local community have created a reserve where you can come to see the mangroves as they once were and where the fireflies can flourish. You won’t see any fireflies during the day but feel welcome to come back at night.

The Ganesh Shrine

Meandering away from the mangroves through villages and local Buddhist temples, stop to visit a Shrine to Ganesh, the Hindu god of beginnings and the remover of obstacles. Followers of his cult in Thailand have a established a lovely shrine to Ganesh in Bangkrachao.

Wat Bang Namphueng Nok

Coming to the end of the Bang Krachao trail we stop for a moment to visit the historical temple of Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok and take some refreshments before we cross back across the Chao Phraya River.

Return to the Meeting Point

Back across the river it is a short ride back to the Grasshopper meeting point.

This tour will take about 4 hours. But the time can vary by group. Snacks and drinks are included.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Well maintained Merida mountain bikes with a water bottle and helmet are provided.

An experienced English speaking, local leader will host you on this trip who is well spoken, very knowledgeable, and charming. Our leaders are often cited as being the main highlight of the tour. We use local guides who have a passion for their country and are always well informed on topics ranging from history, politics, cuisine and importantly local customs and cultures. Our leaders will take pride in introducing you to every aspect of their country while keeping your safety and comfort top priorities.

Snacks, fruit and clean water are also provided throughout the tour to keep you fueled through a day of cycling exploration.

This tour is all about cycling quiet and sometimes very narrow back streets, paths and cycle-ways. There are almost no busy roads to cross, but this is done as a group when we do.

This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 2 travelers. And we limit the group size to only 10 riders so that you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.

We have a range of kids sized bikes, tag-alongs and child seats so there's no reason to leave the kids at the hotel. And to help families we offer discounts to all children aged 15 years and below: Ages 0 to 4 years - 50% off / Ages 5 to 12 years - 30% off / Ages 13 to 15 years - 10% off

Did the half day trip around Bang Krachao. Six on the tour, five being my grown up family. 24kms of pretty easy cycling but some of the paths are narrow and on stilts above water so you need to be careful. Stopped off at some interesting places - a temple, a farm, a glow worm colony. Really enjoyable, particularly as the guide (Tammy) was knowledgable and really enthused about the tour.

Never would have guessed that so much green space was hidden so close the the heart of Bangkok! Our guide, Kan, was very professional and friendly, making for a wonderful morning biking through Bang Krachao.

An easy ride with regards effort or skills so no worries on that score.
Crossed the river on a ferry, visited shrines and temples, stopped for a break and some cool water....all very well organised and managed by K.Tammy.

Lunch was cool...street food for a snack or two, a cold drink and a stroll around local food genders stands. Bikes in great condition, well maintained, clean, fitted to suit each of our party of 3.

I can honestly say we will use them again....this is our second time anyway but will choose another tour either this week or next (night bike tour of Bangkok seems cool!! )

1. What is the best way to get to the meeting point?

The best and surest way to find the meeting point is to take the Sukhumvit BTS line to the Bearing Station. Take Exit 5 from the station then look for the 7-11 and on the side of the 7-11 is a little alleyway which will lead you directly to our meeting point.
