Tour Itinerary

Gather at the Grasshopper Shop
Meet at the Grasshopper Shop at 9B Benoit Street at 7:45 am. Bring a camera, sunglasses, sunscreen and comfortable cycling clothes.

Dive into the countryside
We set off from our shop at 7:30am and. After a safety briefing, we cycle to the outskirts of the Angkor Archeological Park as we make our way to the countryside to experience a way of life that has changed little over the centuries.

Cottage industries
After a 10 km ride through small paths and backstreets, we make our way to a local basket/rattan weaver. Learn about this age-old craft, watch the master and give it a try yourself.

Local specialty
Once we are done learning about weaving, we’ll get back on the bikes and continue our exploration of the countryside. Riding past rice fields and buffalos, we’ll make our way to a typical Cambodian noodle shop to discover a staple dish in the Khmer diet: Num Banh Chok.

Village house
Next, we’ll get back on the bikes for a short ride as we cycle our way to a village house to relax and enjoy some snacks. This stop offers a great opportunity to experience first-hand daily life in the countryside. While building techniques have changed over the years, the guiding principles behind their design remain the same and reflect the lifestyle and challenges of living in the countryside.

West Baray
Next, we head to the West Baray, a man-made lake dating back to Angkorian times. Here, we will ride along the banks, watching fishermen go about their day while birds peacefully fly above them.

You can expect to return to Siem Reap around noon

WHAT’S INCLUDED

This is a real back roads route with lots of unsealed village roads that will take you to a very different Cambodia than the one seen by most tourists in Siem Reap. This route is fun and easy to cycle as well as being an interesting adventure that takes you to authentic Cambodian life.

Quality, well maintained imported GT mountain bikes with full hydraulic disc brakes a helmet and reusable sports water bottle are provided.

An experienced English speaking, local leader will host you on this trip who is well spoken, very knowledgeable, and charming. Our leaders are often cited as being the main highlight of the tour. We use local guides who have a passion for their country and are always well informed on topics ranging from history, politics, cuisine and importantly local customs and cultures. Our leaders will take pride in introducing you to every aspect of their country while looking out for your safety and comfort at all times.

Local snacks and fresh fruit are provided to keep your energy levels up for the riding, and clean water is always available to keep you well hydrated.

This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 1 traveler. And we limit the group size to a maximum of 10 travelers so you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.

I joined the half day countryside bike tour with a little nervousness - I’m not an avid biker and was worried I might have trouble keeping up. No need to worry! This tour was designed to give you maximum experience and meet you at your level. Heang, our guide, was awesome - giving us a look into daily life outside the city. We made 3 official stops (which all came at just the right time!) and many small ones for photos. I’m a solo traveler and it was fun to join a group. I highly recommend it!!

Must do Tour!

This isn’t just a bike ride. We stopped at a real market, road side snack in a hut, stopped at a Buddhist monastery. The guide was excellent (Hank), sharing many personal stories. Great time.
