Overview

We chart a course from the bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, up the Mekong River, into Cambodia, culminating at the epic temples of Angkor. Along the way you'll experience a unique blend of scenic cycling routes, local culture, delicious cuisines, and historic highlights over 8 activity-filled days, with comfortable accommodations to retreat to in the afternoons. There is no better way to explore the lower Mekong Delta.

This is as much a culinary journey as a geographic one, from traditional Vietnamese to contemporary fusion and on to the lesser-known cuisine of Cambodia, you may find yourself wondering if it really is a bike tour or a food tour!

In the afternoons and evenings, after a day full of activity and adventure, you can kick back and relax in comfortable hotels, enjoying a sunset cocktail by the pool, or curling up with a good book.

Our final destination finds us exploring the breathtaking ancient temples and ruins of the Angkor Kingdom. We do this by riding the hidden trails through the protected forests of the surrounding national park. It is a highlight and conclusion to a trip that will etch itself into your memory.

Total cycling: 126 mi / 204 km. The riding is mostly flat. You will cycle on a great variety of surfaces, ranging from concrete to hard-packed dirt and even a few forest trails around Angkor. Traffic will almost always be a rarity, allowing you to engage with the locals as you go, stopping for a chat or a photo as you wish.

Pedal-assist E-bikes are an available option on this tour for $200.

We’ll kick things off by meeting at the hotel — time to say hey to your fellow Grasshoppers! Then we’re off to explore Saigon on foot, diving into its fascinating history and eye-popping architecture while getting a taste of local life (think egg coffee, decadent chocolate, and perhaps a bahn mi or two — your expert Tour Leader knows all the right spots).

After a lunch straight out of a floral dream, we’ll hop into our Rest & Ride vehicle and cruise over to Can Tho in the Mekong Delta. Once we check into the resort, the rest of the afternoon is yours — chill by the pool, explore the gardens, or just enjoy the view of the Hau River.

Come evening, we’ll jump aboard a dinner cruise for a feast of lip-smacking Vietnamese flavors, good vibes, and the twinkle of river lights to wrap up the day in style.

Rise and shine—it’s market day! Before breakfast, we’ll head to the lively Cai Rang floating market, where boats buzz with colorful fruits, veggies, and everything in between. This daily ritual is a window into the Mekong’s unique way of life, where trading happens boat-to-boat, and the river truly runs the show.

Feeling energetic? You can choose between a morning ride, an afternoon ride, or—if you’re up for a challenge — why not both? Whether you start or end your day in the saddle, you’ll experience the best of what this region has to offer.

After fueling up with breakfast, we’ll hit the bikes for a ride through lush countryside on our way to Luong Xeng. The route is packed with peaceful rice paddies, charming villages, and plenty of views that’ll have you reaching for your camera.

A delicious lunch at a local restaurant will keep us fueled for the next leg of our journey!

We’ll wrap up our countryside adventure and hop into our Rest & Ride vehicle for a transfer to Chau Doc. Once we check into our lodge on Sam Mountain and freshen up, we’ll come together for dinner at another local gem, where the bold, fresh flavors of the region will take center stage.

Today, we’re headed for the wild! You’ve got the choice to ride in the morning, afternoon, or why not both? We’ll kick off with a thrilling loop ride through Tra Su Forest. This place is pure magic. As we pedal through the dense greenery, we’ll wind along narrow paths and tranquil waterways, with towering trees overhead and the sound of birds all around.

The real magic happens in the bird sanctuary — this place is packed with over 70 species of birds, including storks and herons. You’ll probably catch sight of them nesting, soaring above, or hunting in the waters.

Your expert Tour Leader knows just the spot to grab a delicious local lunch. Then it’s back on the bikes to soak in more of the wild beauty.

We’ll cap the day with a tasty dinner at a local spot. More food? You bet! We're basically a food tour on bikes!

It could be said that we saved the best for last — the last day in Vietnam, that is. We’re bidding our BBFs (bike best friends) goodbye and hopping on a boat from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh.

Once we hit Phnom Penh, we’re diving straight into history with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum—trust us, it’s a deep and moving experience that’ll stay with you long after. After absorbing some powerful history, we’ll head over to Wat Phnom and the Royal Palace Park, where you'll soak in the culture, admire the stunning architecture, and enjoy some seriously peaceful vibes.

Next, it’s time to check into our urban oasis for the next two nights, complete with a pool to soak the day away and some of the best city views Phnom Penh has to offer.

What better way to cap off the day than with a riverside dinner? Grab a seat, sip something cold, and let the river shimmer under the city lights. Here’s to another day well done!

Enjoyed your coffee? Let’s go! We’ll catch the local ferry over to Koh Dac Island, also known as Silk Island. This charming little spot near Phnom Penh is all about the art of silk weaving. As we cycle around, we’ll get up close and personal with the process, watching local women work their magic on looms under their raised homes.

After we’ve soaked up the island vibes, we’ll head to a local silk farm to learn even more about the fabric of the place (pun intended!).

Lunch is another delicious local affair, then the afternoon is yours to savor and enjoy. Take a dip in the pool, take a stroll at the riverside park, or kick back with your favorite read.

When evening rolls around, it’s your time to choose! Will you go for a hot and steamy beef lok lak? Or perhaps a juicy beef burger to fuel up for the night?

Rise and shine — after breakfast, it’s time to board that morning flight to Siem Reap, the gateway to one of the world’s most awe-inspiring treasures. We’ll land and dive straight into the ancient wonder that is Banteay Srei Temple. This temple is a true work of art, with its delicate pink sandstone walls and insanely detailed carvings — prepare to be wowed by the craftsmanship and the history that whispers from every inch.

Then, it’s time to saddle up for a cycling adventure through the Angkor Archaeological Park. This place is massive — think cycling through the jungle, past rice paddies and ancient ruins, and temples that feel like something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. And because no ride is complete without a snack, we'll treat ourselves to some local bites along the way.

After working up an appetite, we'll tuck into a delicious lunch at a local spot, where the flavors are as rich as the history surrounding us. Then, to wind down, we’ll sip on a cocktail or two during social hour before wrapping up the day with a delicious dinner at one of Siem Reap’s finest restaurants. Good food + good company = the perfect end to a good day!

Today we're up before the sun and way before the roosters get their crowing in. We’ll hop in our Rest & Ride vehicle to head to the otherworldly Angkor National Park, where we'll gather in front of the towering temple spires of Angkor Wat. If we’re lucky with the weather, we’ll catch an unforgettable sunrise — watching the sky explode in color behind the ancient stones is something you’ve got to see to believe.

Once the sun’s up and the tourist crowds have dispersed, we’ll dive deeper into the mysteries of the Angkor complex. Hop on your bike as we cycle down narrow jungle tracks and hidden dirt paths, exploring iconic temples like Bayon and Ta Prohm, as well as some lesser-known gems.

Not feeling the bike ride? No problem! Non-riders can explore these ancient wonders by tuk-tuk, enjoying the ride with a breeze in your hair.

When our bellies start to rumble, we’ll settle down for a delicious lunch by Sra Srang Reservoir, the peaceful waters surrounding the mighty Angkor Wat temple. It’s the perfect spot to take a breath and reflect on all the ancient beauty around us.

After lunch, the afternoon is yours to wander through the town or chill out back at the hotel.

But the fun doesn't stop there! After an early dinner, we’ll head to Phare Circus for a show like no other. This incredible troupe of talented Khmer acrobats, who’ve honed their craft at a professional arts center run by an NGO, will leave you in awe. It’s a perfect blend of jaw-dropping stunts and cultural flair that you won't forget.

And just like that, our time in Siem Reap is wrapping up, but we’re squeezing in a few more must-see spots before you head off! First up, we’ll visit the Angkor National Museum, where we’ll dive into the history and secrets behind the Angkor temples. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at all the magic you’ve just experienced.

Next, we’re off to APOPO NGO, where you’ll meet the real MVPs of Cambodia — the landmine-detecting rats! These little legends are saving lives, and we promise, you’ll never look at a rat the same way again.

You’re going to need a pick-me-up, so we’ll swing by Footprint Cafe for a coffee (or three, who’s counting?) And then, it's time to bid your expert tour leader and fellow Grasshoppers a heartfelt goodbye. Group hug, anyone?
