In this outdoor adventurers paradise the choice of activities is endless, and our three-day Kenting Explorer takes in the best of them, including cycling (of course!), hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, beaches, hot springs, plus a visit to one of Asia’s best aquariums.

Day to Day itinerary
Day 1

Kenting Kayak & Hot Springs
Your long tour will conclude around noon, which is where this extension begins! We’ll fuel up with some lunch and then set out to explore the beautiful Hengchun Peninsula. Just a short drive brings us to Jialeshui on the rugged east coast where we have the chance to kayak a tidal river through the idyllic tropical scenery.
Back on land we’ll drive across the peninsula and into the pretty Damei Valley where we can enjoy relaxing hot springs. On our way back to Kenting we’ll stop in the small town of Hengchun to see one of Taiwan’s few remaining ancient city walls and witness the bizarre spectacle of flames emerging from the ground at Chuhuo. In the evening we’ll head out for a delicious dinner and explore the lively nightmarket.
Day 2

Baisha Bike Loop
20-35km Cycling
This morning we’ll transfer north to Checheng where we’ll have the chance to visit one of Asia’s best aquariums. Here you’ll see belugas, stingrays, hammerhead sharks, and all manner of other weird and wonderful marine life, including glow-in-the-dark jellyfish!
After our aquarium visit we’ll ride south on quiet country roads to Houbihu Marina where the irony of a delicious and super-fresh seafood meal awaits. In the afternoon we’ll ride out to Baisha, one of Taiwan’s most beautiful beaches, featured in Ang Lee’s epic movie Life of Pi. Here you’ll have the chance to snorkel, swim, and relax before transferring (or riding, your choice) the last 13km back to our hotel. The late afternoon is free for you to relax by the pool or on the beach. Dinner tonight is open choice and your guide can offer some local dining suggestions.
Day 3

Kenting National Park Hike & Foguangshan Monastery
This morning we’ll head up into Kenting’s rugged national park, which offers fantastic views of the whole peninsula. We’ll hike through uplifted coral passageways, eerie caverns, and past giant banyans, possibly spotting monkeys, eagles, deer, and even snakes along the way.
After our hike we’ll return to the hotel to freshen up and then enjoy a final lunch together before making the drive to Kaohsiung. En route, we’ll stop at Foguangshan Monastery, home to a massive 36-meter tall statue of the Amitabha Buddha. From here it’s just a short transfer to Kaohsiung where your tour concludes on arrival (approximately 5pm). Kaohsiung is a major hub, making onward travel easy, our team is happy to advise to suit your travel plans.

This tour extension comes with all inclusions outlined above and is designed as an extension option for our longer tours in Taiwan.
*The extension package is priced at US$890 p.p twin share and is based on a minimum group size of 4 people.
For smaller groups the following surcharges apply:
- 2-3 People: A $200 surcharge per person applies
- 1 Person: It is not possible to take this tour as a solo traveler
If guests would like a private single room there is an additional $225 single supplement per private room.
