Day to Day itinerary
Day 1
Meals: D
Welcome to Taipei, Afternoon Walking Tour & Night–market
Our comfortable and centrally located tour hotel is less than an hour’s drive from the airport. We’ll meet in the early afternoon to get to know your guide and fellow travelers. From here we’ll head out on a walking tour which showcases Taipei’s diversity, taking in bustling markets, lively temples, tranquil parks, trendy shopping areas and the imposing Chiang Kaishek Memorial. We then continue for dinner and a wander around one of the city’s more atmospheric night-markets where we’ll have the chance to try some local specialties and maybe a drink or two.
Day 2
Meals: B
Maokong Gondola, Walk & Tea House and Free Afternoon
After breakfast we’ll take the MRT to the southeastern fringe of the city where we’ll board a gondola which presents fabulous views as it whisks us up to tea fields! At the top we’ll take a walk to enjoy the fresh air and incredible views over the city. Our walk is rewarded by the chance to sit down and enjoy the famous Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess) and Baozhong tea along with some local snacks before we board the gondola back down the mountain.
We’ll then return to the hotel and the rest of the day is free for you to relax at the hotel, go for a wander around the local area or get a foot massage. Alternatively, if you want to explore more you could head further afield: the National Palace Museum is home to the world’s best collection of Chinese art; you could take the metro (or a taxi) out to the old trading harbor at Danshui for a stroll along the river and to soak up the carnival atmosphere, and maybe enjoy a first–rate dinner in historic Fort San Domingo; or, on the same metro line, Beitou is another interesting possibility – a steaming Thermal Valley, and the chance for a rejuvenating mineral hot spring soak! Your guide (and the App) will provide full details on these and many other options. Taipei is your oyster omelet!
